10 Steps to a SMART Goal that Sticks

Take a moment to centre yourself and prepare to dream:

  1. Tune in – how do you feel?, Silence the Chatter – breathe deeply, connect to your deeper self
  2. Lifestyle Scan – assess your situation. What’s needed/ wanting?
  3. Envision the future – what do you want in your life?… Does the vision spark energy/passion?
  4. Define Success – What’s it look like?  Who’s still in the picture? How will you recognize it? Strive for a vision that’ll make you “reach”
  5. Identify key milestones along the way.
  6. Do a personal SWOT analysis – identify your competencies and skills; leverage opportunities; protect yourself from weaknesses/threats
  7. Consider requirements (skills, resources); What supports are required?
  8. Assess impacts – what changes are easy to make?
  9. Restate the goal so it resonates with your values. Make it SMART!
  10. Evaluate – Double Check
