Mindfulness, a Path of Awareness

Mindfulness is an ancient discipline of bringing one’s attention to experiences occurring in the present moment. Mindfulness practice develops awareness and alleviates suffering. Jon Kabat Zinn who popularized Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction in North America, defines mindfulness as “a state of moment to moment to moment, non-judgmental awareness.”

Premise

There are 5 Facets of Mindfulness

  1. Non-reactivity to Inner Experience
  2. Observing, noticing, attending to feelings, thoughts, sensations, perceptions
  3. Acting with awareness
  4. Describing/labeling experience with words
  5. Non judging of experience
