It’s the obstacles or challenges that come between you and your goal that gets your creative juices flowing and powers your determination and your hones will to overcome, and more often than not, you will!
When I was in high school, I used to run hurdles. Hurdles are obstacles in a 100 meter course set at a certain height and particular distance apart. To run the hurdles and win, I first had to learn the technique, develop my style, train and practice to build agility and speed. Without training, coaching and practice I would never have made the team let alone win.
Visualization getting off to a great start, with the finish line in my mind’s eye, clearing each hurdle and winning the race was part of the training. This internal mental training is still part of my practice, no matter what goal I aim to achieve. The hurdles in the way are the opportunities to hone your inner resources, mental focus, creative thinking and leadership skills. Seeing it that way creates possibilities. Instead of being overwhelmed or pushed back by the obstacles you encounter, the way you think about them can give you energy and help to hone your focus to develop an action plan that inspires you to action.
To get the result you want, here are six steps you can follow:
- Define your goal. Visualize yourself having achieved it and taste the feel of success.
- Imagine an obstacle that gets in the way of your success.
- Assess the threat and risks to yourself, to your success.
- Invest in yourself – Commit to training, practice and get some coaching support
- Write up your action plan, identifying milestones along the way.
- Be goal oriented and process focused, staying in the moment to celebrate your wins big and small.
Repeat these six steps several times a day with any simple goal, and you’ll see how quickly you can develop your inner resilience, resourcefulness and ability to manifest.
You write great stuff Julia as usual. Lately I've been doing some bazar complicated stuff. I'll be using the Six Steps to help keep it straight. I bought a Heart Math machine. I expect it to help with concentration. I also use it as a meditation tester. I don't use it as per instructions; Imaginary breathing through the heart center. I only continuously exhale and no air is involved, The obstacles now are to produce a conductive system to supply the juice. I the wins department; can pour a little bit of juice off my finger tips, Lower blood pressure and most recently a lower heart rate. If I reach my goal, I'll be telling you and anybody that's interested about how I did it. Bye- bye.
